2013 JK Oil Pressure
« on: October 15, 2020, 05:18:19 PM »
So I bought one of these, and it does indeed have an option for oil pressure when I hook it up, but I don't get a value sadly. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00YG8N2UC

From what I can find online, 2013+ has the oil pressure sender and supplied via the PCM via OBD. Does anyone know more, do all 2013s have it, or how I can find out? I'll double check for codes that might indicate the sensor is broken but otherwise not sure. Looking for an easy way to get an oil pressure gauge into the vehicle.

Edit: hooked up a more advanced scanner, no oil pressure available on it, but doesn't necessarily mean anything, but no codes regarding a broken sensor (just some about cruise control which explains my lack of working cruise).

So, I'd imagine it has the oil sensor, pretty certain. However it was later 2013MY ones that had it on the dash menu (EVIC). Does anyone know if it's possible to flash my Jeep with a 2013 10A (someone says, but basically later 2013MY) ECU version?

Second question, are all oil senders the same, could I just T into the existing sensor wires to hook up a gauge, or do I have to install a T and the gauge sender for it to work? Not sure I can fit 2 senders in the stock location.

I assume your jeep does not have a factory oil pressure gauge?

Correct, they started in 2013, which mine is, but I guess later in the year? So 2013+ has it in the information center, which mine does not.

I suspect something like the Trail Dash 2 would have it and a lot more stuff too. But it’s a lot of monies.

Yep more gauges than you know what to do with or even display on the screen at one time. The one I got was reconditioned off of eBay a few years back and that made the price much more reasonable... something to keep an eye out for.

Yup but the gauges can only display what is available, unsure if the 2013 has it. I'm going to try to add it custom via Torque later. Thinking about getting this though, but it's expensive to get in Canada, like 2.5x the price and I don't want to gamble on extra UPS charges.

Anyone know if you can get it in Canada via someone else, I haven't found it anywhere else online yet. https://www.moparessentialtools.com/item-detail.aspx?itemid=24610008&type=tools

I would be very weary of that as a permanent fitting. It is plastic with metal inserts and is probably intended for temporary use. My HP Tuners can read oil pressure which I believe I can plug into yours and read only if you are in Calgary. But do you suspect low oil pressure? There was an article on JKForum about this where the fellow used better oil and filter and it related to cam phaser throwing codes which went way after he did that work.
