Volunteers ARE REQUIRED for the Calgary ATV Riders Association Stewardship Week(end), IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU CAN PLEASE RSVP AS WE NEED TO FILL OUT THE PAPERWORK IN ADVANCE, Please also review the RSVP, as the work/camping and other questions are there. From one of our grants, we are providing gloves, as to why we require your normal size you wear in advance.
COME FOR THE DAY? COME FOR THE WEEK? or WEEKEND? THE MORE WE GET THE QUICKER WE CAN DELEGATE AND GET THE WORK DONE. We look forward to seeing you out there and THANK YOU. If you would like to volunteer please RSVP prior to Tuesday June the 15th, 2021 or sooner if possible to ensure the club knows how many crews we are able to mobilize and prioritize the areas we will work on. We also need to fill out the necessary paperwork before you arrive, so this year more so than past, it is critical that you RSVP. Please make sure you pack a lunch for the day(s), with good nutrients and water, as well as dress for the weather, it can change and we will work. Parents are encouraged to bring their children. Tasks will be available for children to participate and learn about the importance of sustainability, Unfortunately this year, with the Grant, garbage clean up has to be 19 Years and older. Sorry, but there is other work, willow trimming etc that can be done. WHEN: Wednesday June the 16th to Sunday June the 20th, 2021. You can camp starting Tuesday the 15th or any days within the time frame or come out for a day or two. No cost to you, there will also be a fire pit available. There may be a BBQ Saturday evening depending upon restrictions and volunteer base, will confirm, we are also looking at working with our dealer partners to offer door prizes for volunteers in attendance, more to come on that. WHERE:Staging & camping will be announced to the volunteers, but is close to the South Ghost Staging area. Please leave you units on your trucks and or trailers as you may be driving to your unload location.
TIME: Wednesday through Friday, volunteers to arrive no later than 8:30 am, day finishes at 4:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday volunteers to arrive again no later than 8:30 am, day finishes at 4:00pm, times are approximate to best of our knowledge, depending on how work is completed throughout the week. Sunday should be a shorter day in the hope that most of the work is completed during the week and on Saturday. If for some reason your arriving outside of this time, let me know so we can make arrangements to meet. Safety meeting will begin at 8:30am on Tuesday to Sunday. All volunteers must attend, as there are new forms and regulations to meet.
The club is in need of volunteers. The more volunteers we have the more work that can be completed.
There will be free camping at a private location for volunteers Tuesday through Saturday evening. Please let us know if you require a camping spot. If you would like a specific task, please ask, we will try to accommodate, but also need to try and get all work completed.
The work the club hopes to complete during the Stewardship Day is as follows:
1) Complete Cow lake trail work with machine equipment, would require at minimum 2 people to be in attendance for safety for Tom and Dan and the equipment, there will be some trail clean up, willow/deadfall etc as well.
2) Trim Willows and Clean up deadfall and approaching logs on Cow lake Trail that may be deemed not safe to users( hanging, sticking in the ground, close to trail approach 4 people required per team, 2 teams.
3) Trim willows and Clean up deadfall on Cabin Creek Trail that may be deemed not safe to users( hanging, sticking in the ground, close to trail approach. 4 people required per team, 2 teams. As we are working in on existing trail, some proper drainage may be required with Shovels.
4) Garbage/cigarette but Clean up along Transalta Road, starting at the Kiosk, just before the small bridge( river) plus wp1 to wp7. South Ghost Stage Area, Waiparous Stage Area, the popular target shooting areas and as time and volunteers permit, Waiparous Valley Road.
Items needed to bring for trail maintenance: Shovels, picks, tree pruners, hand Pruners, small axes, ties downs, tow straps, work gloves. Multiple clothing layers and cloths for varying weather conditions. We will assign, at least one member of the club that has their chainsaw certificate in each group. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT YOU HAVE TO BRING along with your work preference in the CLICK HERE box above. Please bring a lunch and water for the trail work, CARA will have extra water at the Safety meeting for those that forget. All volunteers are required to attend the safety meeting to understand the work requirements and covid instructions. Please bring your ATV's which will allow volunteers to get to the remote locations that vehicles cannot. If no ATV's are available there is work, like garbage/cigarette but clean up( vehicle only required) that do not require an atv. Let me know if that is the case? You may need to leave your atv on your truck so see me first before you offload.
