I'm almost certain someone has asked this question b4, but can i put a 5 point on a Jeep with no cage (mine)?  can i support the shoulder straps offa the floor or wheel well instead of securing them to my rollbar (iffy)...

any help would very much be appreciated!

put the lap belt and the crotch belt in tonight...took about 5 hours because the torx on the driver's left was seized.   heated it, pounded it, welded a nut to it and spun it off with my impact wrench.  bloody thing.  went to the autoparts store...  "what's that funny lookin' bolt head?"  "i dunno, torx 51, 7/8" with 24 threads/inch"

"duh.....ok...7/24 with 8/inch"

Running your shoulder straps to the floor is NOT AN OPTION, do some searching, reading etc...There is correct angles and length for all tie-ins,

If you fasten you shoulder straps to the floor, be prepared to ba a lot shorter after an accident in which the shoulder belts are required.

if you get in an accident with shoulder straps that are not mounted properly it will break your back.do not mount them unless you no how,or get some one that has done them beforeand knows what they are doing to mount them.if you are driveing a cj/jy/tj you will have to weld in a bar behind the seats to the roll cage.To use the 5 point set up properly, you would have to build your seat mounts in to the cage as well as all your seat belt mounts.so in case of a bad roll over and the cage and body split or move it does not squish you.5 point belts are not some thing to mess with unless mounting them proplerly. As well as if you are going to drive on the street they are not legal.I had both sets of belts mounted in my jeep and for the amount of times I used the full 5 points you really dont need it.it is very hard to move when fully belted in as well as you have to ajust your seating position so that you can shift and reach all your controls.Off road I just used the lap belt.If I wanted to be a little more secure I put the stock belt on as well

ok spot, thanks...  i don't want to put in a cage until i have enough cash to buy a warranted one that won't kill me if i roll.  ( no mitre cut tubes! )  and plus, i want to keep the stocker look.

that's good advice.   i had no idea a 5 pt was illegal on road... that settles it then... for the amount of time i have my top off (lots) i don't want to get a stupid ticket for a modded seatbelt set from some bunghole cop.

i wish i had the shoulderbelt, but i dont, so lapbelts it stays.

the RCi ones i got in the set work fine.   time to remove the crotch strap too.

thanx for your help guys.
