Oct 21 11pm - Major accident on Elbow Drive and 47 Ave SW
From the looks of the truck, the passenger died. 5 cop cars were on the scene and 2 ambulances. It doesnt look good, that many cops, someone is seriously injured or killed. The roads seem to be in good condition. A little frost on vehicles windows, thats it.
That spot, elbow drive curves abit and there is a light, and every year there is a serious accident there. Last year it was a motorcyclist that got smacked. I am not sure why that is, I think its primarly because everyone crosses over the line. Going around the curve in the road.
Its like 17 Avenue SW the red mile. I always see people straddling 2 lanes, primarly if they are in the lane next to the parked cars headed West. Taxi drivers are bad for that. They think the parked cars will jump out at them or something. It gets worse in the winter when the lines get covered in snow. 17 Ave headed West becomes one land, instead of 2.
I cross elbow drive as a pedestrian everyday during rush hour. Its amazing how many drivers disobey the pedestrian flashing lights. Its scary sometimes. I have almost gotten hit numerous times, seen to many close accidents from one car stopping for pesestrain and car behind skreetching to a stop. The cops should do a sting operation there, they would catch many people with a $2000 fine for disobeying a pedestrian crossing, heck even charge them with dangerous driving.
