So, the beast has undergone a major facelift.
First off, Clutch or Tranny??? Tranny! yeah
The seal between the tranny and transfer case went and on my drive to Calgary from Vancouver, I cooked the whole thing. Topped up the fluids too late. It was so bad that I should have been topping it up every stop, running so hot. The drive up for thanksgiving was just the clincher.
So, I am the proud new owner of a rebuilt tranny, again. Absolutely everything inside that b&*#$ was changed. New seals, new bearings, two new shafts, etc. The input shaft and chain in the transfer case have been replaced. The chain was a bit loose so I just told him to do whatever had to be done while he was in there. I'm so fumed it had to happen so far away from home 'cause it would have been so great to get in there and learn some things.
Then, Wayne robbed the FLYJ of it's entertainment factor! God bless him. He went to town on ol Betsy. Fixed all the signal lights, the door locks (welded the piece together), headlights, brake lights, door handles inside and out, the WORKS!! Ya in case you didn't know, nothing worked, nothing locked, nothing opened from the inside blah blah it's a jeep thing. I had to say no more for now due to the shrinkage of the pocket book. But he's going to look into the lack of functional gauges as well. I don't care about the gas gauge, keeps me in the know, but the temp gauge woud be nice to have back. It's all electrical and leaves me totally boggled.
Final Cost... ... ( i've got a large large angel on my shoulder and a horse shoe in my ars)
$1350.
My ticket to Peru!! yeah
I get it back Saturday.
Bag it on Sunday.
