Sat Radio

Just wondering if anyone here in a TJ has Satellite Radio. I was looking at getting it, and the question i have is where do i put the antenna. I searched around and found three options, on the hood, dash, or on the top of the sound bar.

The sound bar would be my first pick, just wondering if anyone has tired this and if there was any interference having the antenna under the hard top?

Also, does anyone have experience with both Sirius and XM....Opinions?

I had XM. It worked great, very clear. I had the black box setup that was wired to my head unit and not a digital separate unit. The antenna for the black box is a bit larger. I put is on the roll bar underneath the padding and never had a problem.

I've got boyh xm and serius.  Got the xm as a package on the new truck and got it free for three months.  Don't think I'll renew after that.  Serius has way better programming.  A little easier to use as well.

yeah... i've got XM. Its allright but I usually only listen to one station. Old time radio forever.

I wouldn't buy one again though. Not enough selection on XM canada.

Yes,
all you need is an address. Your billing address can be a Canadian address though. US XM is way better than Canadian.

I got sirius, and love it. But both XM and sirius offer free 3 day internet trials. so try before you buy.

I mounted my antenna ontop of the rollbar just behind my head. What ever sirius reciever you get should have a Sat. signal indicator, and a very long cord. So just move it around where ever you like and see where the best signal is. The dash sucks cause the window frame gets in the way while traveling north-ish. The hard top, being fiberglass, doesn't hinder the signal much, if at all.

P.S. I got the Canadian subscription, and still get Stern, and all those otehr chanels.

I am actually picking up a box that wires the sat radio into my deck...i think i loose the signal information with this setup. I may borrow my buddies radio just to get the signal bars maxed.

I'll probably end up getting canadian so some friends and I can link our subscriptions for cheaper rates!!
