Well now that my dad has bought his new toy ('05 Unlimited Rubi), he needs some help picking a lift kit.  He has it basically narrowed down to 2 kits

1.  RE 3.5" Superflex kit
2.  Tera Flex 3" kit with control arms

So which kit would you go with?

Ive heard lots of good stuff about Teraflex. Not that that helps you much.

Seems like Teraflex really does there homework and tests there stuff a lot.

RE hands down...once the Teraflex arms wear out..they're done. The RE arms are rebuildable.

Tera springs are really soft. Some people really like them, others dont.

I dont know how well they will do on an unlimited.

And for a complete lift, I'd have to say RE4.5SF with 3.5 springs.

I've got a Teraflex 3ST lift which includes lower control arms.  The bushings suck arse and the rears finally wore out at the threads.  I got new Currie control arms.  My only real complaint about Teraflex is the control arms.  Then again, its a really big complaint.

Hands down, go with the RE over Tera!!!!

When i was pricing out a couple lifts, i heard RE getting alot of praise.

I was wondering if anyone can explain the advantage of getting a 4.5inch RE kit with 3.5 inch springs? Is it a bit less lift with alot more flex?

If you look at the kit, the 4.5 is a more complete kit with UCAs and trackbar, stuff like that.

My dad already has a YJ, plus 2 XJs, and when I have my Jeep parked at their house, it looks like a freaking CJA meeting with all the Jeeps

On a 3.5" kit, would you really need the UCAs and a new trackbar.  This coil stuff is a little fuzzy for me.

Also with a 3.5" lift on an unlimited, I am pretty sure a SYE will not be needed, and what are the chances he could get away without a t-case drop, since the wheel base is about 10" longer.

He shouldnt need a CV at all. Only time they usually need it is when they go 4 inch plus lifts with tight tucks like an Nth degree.

You really want all arms to complete the lift if at all possible.

What happens is you end up making the remaining stock arms the weak link and can run into problems like Rick did at indian graves. He folded his stock uppers while trying to winch up a ledge.

Its either that, or you carry stock uppers for spares just in case. Specially if your dad is going to jambo this one.

If he isnt really going to wheel it, then I wouldnt worry, although the adjustability is still nice to have.

But if that were the case, I'd recomend just a OME kit with a small body lift to keep things simple, and get the better ride.

That makes sense about the control arms.  I have actually seen a couple guys fold theirs.

He wants to run 33s, but he wants to keep it low.  So I was thinking 3" suspension, 1" BL and a tummy tuck.  This will be offroaded as well, where he likes it or not

And if you need some spares let me know I have a couple uppers slightly used
