Cut the cat and muffler off my '05 Rubicon today...........installed a Flowmaster 50 series. SOUNDS awsome ( to me anyhow ) Made up a set of flanges so if need be ,I could replace all the stock pieces in a matter of an hour or less. Thought I would keep the stock stuff for hunting season for stealth mode.............but when I do the tummy tuck I don't think the stock @#$$%@ will fit anyhow
For those interested, at idle slight burble, part and half to full sound pretty good ( not raunchy ) and on the highway at cruise......even with the top down, can't even hear it !!! Engine seems to idle smoother as well, as an added bonus !!! 8)
Cost for project Flowmaster 50 series $125......flanges and S/S pipe (FREEBIE) Time ...4.5 hours for fit up and welding.
Pleasing sound to ears and brain.........PRICELESS 8)

Sheesh... I'm always 2 steps behind when it comes to mods Rubi

Exhaust mods are definitely on my todo list... Now that the TJ looks meaner I want it to sound a bit meaner too.  Looking forward to seeing/hearing the new muffler!

nice. I've been plannin to do this eventually too. Gotta wait until something brakes first.

Any plans on replacin the headers? I have heard some before and after clips on header job and it sounds amazing.

I have not seen a listing for headers for an '05 yet.........THREE  O2 sensors on this thing  ...and for the $750 -$800 I'll just stick with the factory manifold unless it ends up cracking in the future.

What did you do about the O2 sensors after the convertor.... I thought they had to stay, and therefore could not cut the cat out...?
