I thought you were going to wait a couple more years before you got into the "HARDCORE" mods?
I don't think it was a choice...
Blair's Check book will remember Dec. 17th for a while...
(Sorry.. i couldn't help myself)
Dom is correct it was a very expensive day on the trail. Flat fendering is to replace the damaged driver’s fender it is just part of the repair list.
Other repairs, new head gasket, head required resurfacing, new temp sensor in head, oil change, repair dent in front of drivers door, paint work, front bumper replacement, it needs a new fan, new radiator, replaced bent tie rod and it will need an alignment as well. Before it can have a proper alignment one of the front wheel bearings needs to be replaced. One tire needed to have the bead cleaned out and be remounted. It needed new front break pads as well. Not all repairs were a result of the trail accident and subsequent overheating but most were. While I am having paint work done to the fenders and dent my new custom rear bumper is going to get painted.
Yes Dom is right the check book felt the real pain. A big thanks to Bill for the used parts and to Dom for parts and a tow to Calgary. It has saved big $$ on some of the repairs.
If I can get the flat fenders on this weekend, dent repaired and the wheel bearing in then I hope to get the paint work finished the next weekend.
My next door neighbor has done auto bodywork for 30 years and is helping with the dent repair and paint work.
The jeep may not be ready for the trail for a few more weeks. But at least it now moves on its own power.
Wheeling is a great time and the winter camping trip was great. The jeep will be back on the trail but a note to new guys. A small error in judging an obstacle on the trail can result in an expensive day. We hope it does not happen to often but it can. It is a risk we must accept when running the trails. Wheeling is still a blast when the crap happens you just need to fix it, learn from your mistakes and get on with it.
