So where is the best place in town to pick up a good battery?  I was at Wal Mart tonite and found an energized batt for 95.00  Six year warrenty 3 years free replacement 795 CCA.  Or should I go with the Red Top optima for 200 bucks?  I need to get one before thursday as we are supposed to plunge into the deep freeze and my employer is to cheep to supply plugin's,(among many other things)

Oh yah for a 95 yj with a winch!!!!

I did not see the need for an Optima so I went to Crappy Tire and got one of their better Eliminator batteries with 875 CCA for like $100, but it was on sale.  Anyways, the warrenty works out to about the same as a optima

If you can swing it go with the Optima. If not see if you can the lip off of one edge of your battery tray, this will let you run a physically larger battery, I used one from a Ford pickup, Sears Diehard Gold 1000CCA. I've done this with both my XJ and ZJ.

Not too hard to mod the PCM out of the way to run a longer battery....

Costco has some pretty decent batteries also, and usually around the $50-$60 range. I've used them in my last couple cars. The one I put in my sunfire 4 years ago (owned by my room mate now) is still runnnig strong.

Plus, they offer a pretty decent warrenty on them (3 year replacement if I can remember correctley)

The optimas sold are Costco and Walmart are of a lower CCA rating than the more expensive one, something like 720 vs 800 CCAs.

Must depend on the battery then, cause the last 2 that I bought from there were 830 or 840 CCA.

Well I bought the one from wallmart.  800 CCA's.  Has an energiser bunny on it.   For 95 bucks it will probably last the rest of the jeeps natural life.  Thanks for the input everone.  They did have lower cca versions with less warrenty for 69.00.  I was going to go to costco but the membership is due so I would have had to pay and additional 50 bucks to renew........  So bring on the crappy cold weather and we will see what this battery can do.
