Thanks to all that got the event up and running.
I enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with other
'Jeepers' and check out their cool rigs.

The group from Edmonton who were continuing on to do some camping, picked up some surprise points for having emergency clothing and food in their vehicles!

There are some very well equipped rigs entered, and we thank you all for taking part.

All I know, is that Milan is a fast crawler than me!!

Otherwise, I missed the time deadline for the 33-and-under category, I was busy taking the air out of my tires to 3 psi.

But I sure handed a whooping to Milan's Atlas t-case. (And I think I caused him to miss out on a valuable prize   )

Cheers

Sure, rub it in!  :P I'm starting to think I have a 3.8:1 t-case. I should check.  :?  :D Goes to show that smaller tires have their advantages.

I still owe you a beer, I owe Joel $50, man a lot of debt to pay.

All in the tire size I'd say Milan. With crawlers measuring small, and krawlers measuring true, it takes a lot gear to close that gap. Did a quick number crunch just to paint the picture. I couldnt remember if your krawlers are 33 or 35's so put both of them in.

   Ax 15/Atlas 4.0/4.56axle/33" or 35"tire

   1st   t-case   axle   final   Tire C(m)   kph@
3.83   4.00   4.56   69.86   2.63   2.26
3.83   4.00   4.56   69.86   2.79   2.40
   NV 3550/Rocktac/4.10axle/30" tire
4.05   4.00   4.10   66.42   2.39   2.16

Looked cleaner when I cut an pasted it :?:  :?:

Well, that's a little better. Anyways, the point is there. Last 2 numbers are tire circumference and kph@1000rpm.

I know. But the AtlasII is 4.3:1 and I aired down to match the radius of Elsifer's tires. Only the bastid aired down a lot too and thus his radius became smaller yet, even with 16" rims. Riding on rims gave him less than 12" radius. Mine was 13+. Theoretically with no air in there I should eventually win, having 15" rims. But at less than 2psi we were almost peeling the tires of as it was, so we left it at that.

It was nice to see how much of a difference can a slightly lower first gear and smaller tire make. I did not want to bet in the first place as I have run against 32" tires and 4:1 before and lost, so I knew it would be hard to beat even smaller tires and a lower first. But it was a lot of fun, including Elsifer's trash talk before, during and after the event. :D:D:D Time to put that NP435 in there, lower the idle, pull the parking brake (I bet that's what Lucifer Elsifer did), etc., etc..

Actually that smell was my clutch getting ridden hard, not your boy after eating them hotdogs!

Although I have to admit, for some reason, even at stock, I'm getting slightly better gas mileage than other Rubicons, and I think my engine is slightly underpowered as well, not to mention at crawling my rpm was not 1000, it was closer to 600-800. Not chugging or lugging, but close.

But also I only have 20,000K on it (just rolled yesterday). So *shrug*.

I'll take those beers owed anyday!  :P  :P
