I seem to be rebuilding mine (cv & slip yope of the DS) once a year (front and rear). I use my truck as a daily driver and I try go go wheeling as much as I can (2 to 3 week-ends a month). I got mine rebuilt at DSI and it costs me about $180. It was a DSI custom shaft. They do give good deals if they fix their own product (it make sence   ).

It all depend how you wheel and what kind of trail you use. You can change it every 6 months or even every time you go out (if you have a powerful engine).

I hope that helps...

Cheers

Pls correct me if i'm wrong.....the SYE is about 250-300 depending of which kind you buy. Since the XJs have along driveshafts so you don't need a super short SYE. Your DS angles should still be ok with a longer SYE. It's another story for the TJs.

if you go with a SYE you won't have to drop your T-case. You will have a bit more clearance. I have a 6" lift now with an advance adaptor SYE and I have not drop my t-case. I have no vibration in the DS what so ever.

I am currently looking into one for my YJ and the SYE kit is actually about 350-450 depending on where it is the standard or super short.  A DSI CV shaft will be about $550-600

I got my YJ SYE kit from PORC for way less than that Scott. Here, check this link out:

That is about what they are selling for in town here.  I know National is selling the std for $350 and Hoyboyz is selling the Super Short for $400
