Finally found me a Jeep

Well the 89 YJ that I looked at was a joke. I'd have paid less for it than I did my CJ and he wanted a rediculous amount for it considering all of it's problems. the transmission and T-case were about to fall out from under it and I'm sure the T-case was fubard.

Anyways I bought a 1980 CJ7 with a 258. Not a spot of rust anywhere on it. It needs some motor work and maybe a new head, but I got it for a steal considering the shape it's it and it's all original so it hasn't been butchered. The previous owner bought it and let it sit in his garage for 4 years and was going to swap in another 258 from a J-10, but never got around to it. He said the guy he bought it said the motor in it now needs a new cam but we're not sure. The motor is in pieces so we're going to put it back together and see what it really needs. I'll post pics later. Happy wheeling.

is 80 the first year with the dana 300?  these trucks are awesome!  i was considering selling mine to my a 69 charger, but figured the CJ propably handles just as badly, and for the money, i can make the cj keep up with anything.  congrats

That's great, 'cause 89YJjust doesn't sound as good as 80CJ,

Can't wait to see the pics.

But they both sound better than 98TACO,  :P
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

Needs some head work but should be able to have it running by next weekend. Hopefully if all my parts come in, thankfully I work at a parts store haha. We'll see. The paint is faded but will buff out nice and it has a new set of flares. It's in damn good shape. Even has A/C, but needs a high pressure hose and to be charged.

That's the plan for a while. It needs new rubber so it's getting hand me downs from my truck but other than making it run like a striped assed ape that's it for mods other than factory stuff.

If you are working at a parts store, it would take you next to nothing to get a boneyard 4.0 from 91-99, a ring kit, and make a low buck stroker out of your 4.2

Just time more then anything.

Nice find. Then again, you are in AZ. Capital of the rust free collector mobiles  :D  :D

Dunno, but that'd be a long drive even in a nice CJ like this lol. Happy wheelin.
