05 TJ Tranie Problem :(
« on: January 30, 2007, 09:07:21 PM »
Hi,

I am wondering if anybody has or knows of anybody who has problems with their 6 spd tranie? On my 05 TJ it bites going in n out of 2nd gear and has in about the last month kick itself out of 2nd gear while driving at least 5 time..... Does anybody know of a possible reason for this? I had it sitting for a couple months during the winter and have just put it on the road this last month. I took it to the dealership before the summer when it first started and they said that there is nothing wrong! For a Jeep that has under 19,000 kms it sure shouldn't be shifting like that.

It's under warranty, so take it in.

I'm no mechanic, so I can't even guess as to what could be the issue. But its an 05, and this is the start of 07. Take it in to the dealer!

Good luck.

yup ... take it in and be stern with them. There is not reason your 2nd gear should pop out like that especially on a stock rig.

keep taking it in, make sure they write a work order. make sure to get and retain all your paper work. Then if you go over your warranty and you've complained about the same problem every 5,000kms when your in for your services then you have recourse.

you are taking it in for your regular services right?

Ya so I took the Jeep in for the 20,000km service and the "mechanics & service manager (The experts)" said that they could not find a problem with my trannie except that it was a little sticky going into 2nd gear. They said that they could not also imitate the gear popping out of gear..... (Well of course it has only happened like 6 times in one month). I wasn't too happy with my service at all!!! So of course now I am going to be getting them to check it every service and have it in paper saying that I "don't have a defective trannie" and have to keep the @*$#in paper so when my trannie finally dies I will be pushing for a new one even after my warrenty expires and if not they can talk to my lawyers!!! A one year old $30000 vehicle should not be shifting like this!

Theres more than one dealer out there. Take it to some one else. Long story short I did this with my 06 Charger and got results. Guess who gets my bussiness now? Hint not the first place...and I bought there!

So customer service called me today to do a call back to see how "excellent their service" was.... Well the young lady got an ear FULL! It turns out that on "record" they F'd up on the paper work not even stating the full real problem that I had complained about! So after my conversation,  and also adding that now when in neutral it makes a sound like something is loose and jiggling around inside the trannie(Not clutch throw out bearing!) she was basically kissin' my butt. As she put it "Well its under warrenty so we should deal with it ASAP!", I was thinking to myself WOW what a change from "Not a big deal" to "Lets get it fix!". So next week the TJ goes in for another inspection..... Does anybody know if Jeep has anything about a loaner vehicle in their contracts if the one you bought has to go in for warrenty work (over one day or more)? I know that if I was to go back to the original dealer then I would get one but I have moved to the island.

I bought my 06 Liberty CRD from Airdrie Chrysler and they have always given me a rental vehicle when my unit required an overnight stay. They just drop me off at Enterprise and I believe send the bill to Chrysler.

Thanks! I think that if they end up having to keep it for a couple days then that is what I am going to push for.
