Hey everyone.......
I just bought my first jeep this week. A 2000 tj sahara 4.0L.. I am now catching the fever and want to do a few mods so i can hit some offroad trails. I dont want to go overboard but want to have a quality rig...

I want to lift..
im thinking a 3' lift....
anyadvice on what to look at. I want to keep it under 1000 not including labor.

looking for a quality bumper and rock rails..

Is there anyone out there who can givce me some good advice on what to look at or perhaps some advice on staying clear of others..

how can i hook up with a trail ride at Mclean Creek...

thanks
seth

Hey Seth

Welcome.

First, Mclean is closed till the Spring. Keep an eye on the trail ride section and you can find an open or stocker ride to come out on  and try things out.

If you want to see different rigs lifts and setups come out to a club meeting third Wednesday of each month.  Lots of different things on the club members jeeps to look at.

Before you go nuts on a lift think about what size tire you want to run? What is your jeep geared? That will make a difference on the tire size you will want to run if you are working on a budget.

The first cover the basics: Font and rear tow points (you may have factory ones already); tow strap looped ends no hooks; communications on the trail (most of the club members have CB’s in the jeeps).

Lots of the other members are more knowledgeable with lift info for larger lifts.  I only have a 2” budget  lift. (Rubber spacers in the top of the springs to lift the jeep). It is a cheep way to clear 31” tires on your jeep. I also went with longer shocks to increase the flex of the jeep. The drawback with the spacers approach is if you flex and wheel the jeep off road LOTS you over compress the springs and start to loose your lift. I will likely change to the OME springs for my lift soon and get rid of the spacers. The second set of front springs are now sagging after a year of hard wheeling

The lift is just there so you can run larger tires. Pick a tire size and go forward from there in how much lift you need.

A winch is a good investment if you are going to wheel lots.

Rock rails help to lessen the exposure to body damage and my kids use them as a step. I have a set of SMF ones, but lots of choice out there

You should make a few runs first, hear some of the trail stories good and bad and make sure you are ready to spend the $$$$$. If you like it, go for it, but it can cost $$$$ in damaged stuff, but it is a blast.
Super Winch, 33" MT, 2 1/2" lift , CB, Flat Fender
