Fram Tough Guard
Even with all the problems of the other Fram filters, this one is not too bad.  It has a heavier filter element with more surface area, a silicone anti-drainback valve, the cheap pressure relief valve, but with a clever integral screen to keep out large particles, and enough inlet holes for good flow.  The only other drawback to this filter is that it is capped on each end with cardboard instead of metal.  Looking in through the center outlet does not reveal any paper end caps, but they are there.  I personally do not use this filter, but the design didn't have enough bad qualities to cause me to tell others to avoid it.

this is the one I am using now.  i have oil pressure woes, had low oil pressure problems once before in the Avenger using a crappy tire filter, until i changed it to a fram doubleguard then it went back up to normal.  i am changing my oil and filter soon in the jeep so i will know for sure if it is the filter again.

I ran a commercial lube shop servicing highway trucks and trailers. The only filter to use in my experience is a fleeguard filter. The only filter that will guarantee your engine if it fails and is due to a filter problem. They are a little harder to get than a fram or purolater but are by far a superior filter. The main distributor for these filters is Cummins. This is the OE filter for cummins and is a warranty approved substitute for Cat.
 Just my 2 cents worth.

so what should a 4.0l be running tat oil pressure wise? i can't tell in my YJ, it doesn't say, just has 6 notches/lines number 1 to 6.  halfway is labelled at 3.  WTF? mine runs at 1.

will a certain filter bring this up?

doubt it.  could be bad sending unit, bad gauge, bad oil pressure... have to get a garage to test it.  i think napa quoted me under $100 for a pressure gauge so can buy one.

mine sat about half way and above half when revving.

I could be talked into a group buy for bigger/better/badder oil filters, nothing wrong with improving a vital system for a nominal fee.

Look at all you cool guys with your inline sixes.   :-\

Why did D-C have to switch to a minivan engine  :'(

I run Fram Tough Guard filter on all my filters, cause I get them cheap at work. Also found that the Fram # PH8 fits fits the 4.0L and is quite a bit larger than the PH16 :)

Johnny,
Both of my I6 engines run at the line above the 3 when at 1000+ rpm, at idle they run at the 2nd line. CHECK GUAGES light comes on when it hits the first line.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.
Here's your cup of STFU... ENJOY!
