There she is, now enabled up to 75W! Rather than the 5W in my handheld.

I can hear VE6GAB from my house, but I can't hit it, Nose Hill is just too tall. And I'm on the wrong side of it.

For those who want to know, I ran the power leads for the radio thru the grommet on the right side of the gas pedal. I cut a hole in that grommet, pulled the cable thru, then sealed the hole with some silicone.

Can you still talk to people with normal cb's with a 2 meter ?

With a 2m? No.

CB, is technically an 11meter radio. You can get 10m & 11m radios. Truckers use em, not legally though. Unless they have an amateur (or ham, same thing) license.

CB is in the 26-27mhz range, on the AM side.
2 meters is 144-148mhz, on the FM side.

Depends on what you mean by "a lot". There are a few hams in the club, a bunch more that surf this forum. And a lot more in the realm of 4x4.

The cb makes for a good base point for trail communication. Decent range, low cost investment, no license required, useful for more than just trail comms, ie truckers and chan19. Highway use is pretty handy, asking truckers if its safe to pass, etc.
