Mine was crescent wrench size.  Just be careful to not use the metric crescent wrench!!!

I used an 18 in crescent with a pipe over the end.  Wack the wrench with a hammer while pulling for all your might.  Wear GLOVES.  The thicker the better.

im gonna say its about a 29mm or 30mm, give or take. my impact gun works just fine taking them off... the perks of being a tech i guess. i forget which size it is because i just grab a socket from the set without looking.

1 5/16" is the closest size I've got . As already mentioned , a "stout" air impact gun has always worked for me , when combined with sufficient supply of air.  DO NOT beat on it , DO NOT use a torch ! .  I'm sure you have used plenty of penetrating oil . A long 1/2"(quality) breaker bar will loosen that nut too.

The pitman arm may or may not come off easily , use the correct puller , some patience and more penetrant . Apply pressure with the puller , walk away if it doesn't budge , leaving the puller on with tension on it . Several attempts may be necessary. DO NOT beat on it.

Don't make me come over there !

Torque the nut to 185 ft/lbs

Thx Jeff!-yeh we got it off today-filed down the sides of the nut and then slid a wrench  on it-started bending the puller-it was on so tight..thx for all replies-
