Ok, So my clutch went soft on me Friday and i tracked it down to a leak coming from my master clutch cylinder. I am guessing the next step is to take it to a mechanic or is this something i can diagnose and fix?

Looks like this is a weak spot on jeeps?

They go once in a while, but usually they are fairly reliable.

Buy a new one and change it out. Follow install directions for bleeding the air out.

Really simple fix for the most part.

Ok, i'll give that a shot. Should i consider changing the slave too, or is that just gonna be a waste of time and money?

What time of fluid do i need? DOT 3 or 4?

Just a word of caution, and I don't know if it is for all external slave system for YJs and TJs, but when my slave went, I have to replace the whole system. I purchased it from chrysler and it already came charged with fluid. The price was pretty reasonable too.

Ok...found the dealership one...355 bones for slave, master, and pre-bled.

Found one Master at NAPA for a 97-01, i am assuming this would work for a 2002? Its only 113.59, but i couldnt find any clutch slave cylinders.

Is it worth tripling my price for both?

If i just do the master, i can "bench bleed" that, but i am guessing i need to bleed the entire system after.

OUCH - mine for only like $200 for the entire system from Chrysler

See the problem with mine was the slave did not have a proper bleed screw, so therefore could not really be bleed. Mine could be different from yours. Take a look at your slave and if there is just a hex head screw on top, my guess is you will need the whole system.

But like I said yours could be different, so do your homework.

Ok, snapped a couple pictures. BlackYJ, i think you are right, i see no bleeder valve, is this something that can be purchased that may screw into there?
