Help me identify these shocks...
« on: June 20, 2007, 01:44:27 AM »
A guy my wife was talking to knew I was into Jeeps.  He gave my wife some Jeep parts his buddy had no use for.  They included a set of front and rear shocks.  They are brand new and he was told they were from his buddy's newly lifted Jeep TJ.  He didn't know how much lift it had or what they were.

Here is the description:

Front:
1. Two numbers stamped into them.  16827 & C2724
2. Extended length 28 3/4" (center of eye to flat mounting surface)
3. Compressed length 16 3/4" (center of eye to flat mounting surface)
4. Typical generic white shock

Rear:
1. Two numbers stamped into them 16825 & C1086
2. Extended length 24.5" (center of eye to center of eye)
3. Compressed length 15" (center of eye to center of eye)
4. Typical generic white shock.

Does anybody recognize these part numbers??  Will these shocks work on a 3" lifted Jeep.  My present Doesch Tech shocks in the rear were 14 1/4" compressed and 23" extended, so I think these shocks should be OK.  The front ones are still on the Jeep, and as best as I can tell are about 15" compressed and I think around 26-27" extended.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff N

They are exactly what you said. Generic.

90% of those generics are made by munro. Including Rancho, superlift, procomp, skyjacker, etc etc. They are just boxed with lift company logo's and different colored boots.

They will work for you. Being a bit longer, you might have to extend your bumpstops a touch. No big deal.

They look like a typical shock.  I'm not really sure what the difference is between monotube and not.  There is no reservoir or anything like that.
