Buying a Mig Welder
« on: September 13, 2007, 05:34:42 PM »
It looks like Princess Auto has a deal on Mig Welders starting next week. I've done some arc welding in the past, and am really only looking at doing minor body work on my CJ7 and maybe some older skidoos. Would this do the job?

Looking at the specs, its 120V, 17A input, Duty CYcle: 20% @65A, 4 heat settings, Can be converted from flux wire to gas welding, automatic thermal shutdown protection, cold wire trigger, and variable wire speed. $200

Any suggestions would be great!

Blake

I agree with Caltrex, as you can purchase the smaller Lincoln units from Canadian Tire or Homedepot. It's not that the Princess auto one would not work but can you get parts in 5 years.
Check duty cycle, thermal control and a gas kit is a must, as you will not be satisfied with the quality till you have it.

Great, thanks! I'll definitely keep that in mind and will probably hold out till I can get something better.
