There is no Replacement for Displacement. A V10 Jeep, I like it! (until I drive by a Petro-Canada).
Coincidentally Chris, there used to be a fellow in Crossfield who imported various foreign (Japanese?) automotive diesel engines to transplant in our American guzzlers. I saw an advertisement for it at SAIT, I'll keep hunting for more info. A 4-cyl. Isuzu Turbo-Diesel Comanche sounds kinda neat in my opinion. (Even though in 1986? there were diesel Cherokees' and Comanches').
There may be some emissions issues with diesel transplant engines in new vehicles, but in old pounders like mine, it could only improve things. Diesel engines (properly tuned) produce far less harmful emissions than a comparible gasoline engine. (I'll just sit back, and wait for the black smoke-comments now!!)
