Sliders vs. Custom Rocker Armor

I need some rocker protection/a place to use a high jack. I was thinking of having some 3/16 mild steel formed so I could weld it to the pinch seam and to one of the contours inder the door. Then attach some DOM tubing that can act like rails. Just wanted some opinions on strength ect. compared to the bolt on sliders. Part of the reason that I would do this over bolt on slider is that it will hide my rust holes

looks like a good idea. if you figure you need more bracing just tie it into the frame rail type thing. add more metal for strength.
