Questions about motor mount lifts (3.5 RE SF/1 BL)

Hey,

The other day I was at natioanl 4wd looking finally for a lift kit for my TJ. I stumbled across a 3.5 RE super flex that they had on the wall... LOVE IT! I was impressed by the control arms and how strong they looked compared to the POS stock ones. RE suggests adding a SYE kit/CV shaft to the t-case drop kit that comes with their kit. They do not recommend the SYE with their basic 3.5 kit (no arms). I want the 3.5 RE SF kit due to the beefy control arms.

The sales clerk told me that with the t-case drop kit it should be ok without a SYE/CV shaft.... He suggested that with the t-case drop kit to do a motor mount lift... When doing the motor mount lift he also suggested doing a 1 inch body lift...
I can put the suspension lift/body lift in but do not want to tinker with the engine.

Will a motor mount lift make that much difference to help the rear drive shaft angle?
How much "real" shop time would it take for them to put it in?
Has anybody ran this combo?
Has anybody ran the 3.5 RE SF kit with out a sye/cv shaft and just the t-case drop kit?

Its better to learn from other peoples problems/mistakes then my own

I have a motor mount  lift waiting to be installed.  There are a lot of people that use the motor lift to effectively control vibrations when a SYE kit is not installed.  If you do install a motor mount lift, you will have to installed a bodylift for everything to clear properly.

The guys are national are very knowledgeable when it comes jeeps

If you can do a suspension lift you can do a MML with no problem at all.   Its really just supporting the engine (engine hoist... or a good floor jack)... undoing motor mount on one side... lift the engine an 1" or so then sliding the new one in.  Then doing the same on the other side.

I think it took me longer to do my body lift than my MML.

I currently have a  T-case drop installed to help eliminate vibrations but will be changing to an SYE kit. With the T-case drop I am giving up needed clearance and have hooked the skid plate on a few stumps on the last few runs. I still may get hook on a few stumps with the SYE installed but want that inch of clearance back that I lost droping the T-case. If you chose to get an SYE I have been told to spend the extra money and  get the realy short one.

I just do not want to be in a situation where I end up having to buy a SYE/CV shaft after already buying the lift kit... Then I would kick myself for not going with the 4.5 or 5.5 lift kit...lol

You can order the 4.5" SF kit which is more complete with 3.5" springs, then you can just change the springs if you want to go taller

This is what I did

RE springs always sit tall a 3.5" springs will give about 4.5 to 5" of lift

get the 4.5 SF kit with the 3.5 springs then if you have vibes and have to do a SYE you will already have the adjustable upper control arms

When I put in my 4.5" kit... I did a transfer case drop and had no vibrations at all.  I just used some square tubing I had to drop the t-case about 1" or so.   If you want a 4.5" kit I'd say go for it.

Heck if you want to wait a month or so I'll have my short arm kit for sale... as I'm going to custom long arm.  It's the super flex RE 4.5 kit with 4" springs.
