Trouble code 2003 Jeep Sahara
« on: February 14, 2008, 08:47:24 PM »
Driving today to work and check engine light came on.  Checked the code and it's p441.  I have done some investigation and have read to change the gas cap?  Lack of seal?  Also is there any other issues that i should be aware of.  From what i read it's kinda just polution gear...do i really need this stuff?  Should I disconnect the battery to reset the code once I have done certain checks...ie replaced the gas cap.....

Any ideas?

thanks

I can't recall what my code was this past november. But it was along the lines of "gas cap loose".

I opened, then closed the gas cap. And the light went away after about 10 minutes of the jeep running. I didn't pull the neg terminal on the battery. It just went away itself.

It was caused by some ashhat trying to siphon gas from my jeep at an open camp in Conklin.

Try it, if it comes back, then you have a problem. Otherwise, it just might be "one of those things".

had this once. it's a loose gas cap. Likely just wasn't on all that tight. at worst you have to buy a new gas cap.  Your year of Jeep... likely just loose.

yea i had that in the summer. gas cap had a crack in it. had to get a new one for $30. next time it happens i am just going to go with an after market stronger cap with a locking cover.
