Ideas?
« on: February 23, 2008, 12:22:01 AM »
Just looking for advice for future next upgrades to my Yj.
It's a 95'  with the 2.5. I have a 4" lift. Spring under.. 4:10 gears with Dana 30 front with lockright  and the rear is just the 35. I'm running 33"  tires. Have a fbtech front bumper with a winch.
what ya think?

It is a lot of work and you need some good knowledge of welding and fabricating to install it

What are you trying to achieve in the end?  Daily driver, dedicated trail rig, etc.  It is a pretty open ended question.

Don't worry about getting stuck - just make sure you go with someone who can pull you out.

I know of holes that will swollow 44s

Honestly though, if you stay out of the thick mud around here, a well built rig on 33s will do just fine.  Lockers, a winch, and good mud tires will get you pretty far.  However, driver skill can get you a lot further than lots of big equipment

I just mean when I go out with people, I don't want to be holding them back because im stuck all the time. I know the 2.5 doesn't have a whole lot of power, I was thinking about new gears for my next project

although the 4.10's are marginal with 3's and the 2.5 litre, 4.10's are AWESOME with 33's and a peppier and torquier mill...i recently upgraded to the 4.0 litre from the 2.5, and kept the gearing stock...the difference is remarkable....I ca smoke my 35's on asphault!

Don't understand estimate the angry squirrels.  That little 4 banger is great offroad and I loved it.  Now with 33s, the stock 4.10s was not deep enough for that engine but 4.88s would have been good.
