89 Cheep Cherokee Problems Backfiring
« on: February 24, 2008, 10:51:49 AM »
My Jeep will start and run, but as soon as I hit the gas, the engine backfires.  I have replaces the CPS and the TPS.  What do I need to do next?

Have you messed with the distributor lately? If so did it get put back in its proper position? Are all the plug wires going to the correct plugs(none mixed up), are the wires in good shape(not cross firing to each other?).

Any vacuum lines popped off?

I don't believe so but I will check.  By the way, the plugs you mean  are the firing order for the spark plugs right?

We need more info. Did it just start or happen after doing work on it? What all have you tried/replaced.
