2.5L Camshaft
« on: September 12, 2005, 07:32:38 PM »
Does anyone know the stock lift, duration, and centerline of a stock 2.5L camshaft from a 95 YJ.

I have located a mopar cam with .45" lift and I am wondering how serious of a cam this is.  I am running a high flow exhaust and 4.0L TB, does anyone have any idea what kind of performance gains I will get with a cam like this?

Stock spec's on the 2.5 cam are as follows;

lobe lift- 0.265 (valve lift after rocker-ratio; 0.424)

duration is; 270 deg.

as far as centerline goes?
intake lift opens @ 16deg BTDC closes @74deg ABDC
Exhaust opens @ 60deg BBDC closes @ 30deg ATDC
overlap is 46deg.

Remember though that all these specs are measured @ 0 lift, so, hard to compare to the "Purple/mopar" cam as those are measured at .050 lift.

I think the cam you've located is the most aggressive, and I've read unhappy reports with that cam as you gotta rev. the motor to make power and you lose allot of crawling torque.

there used to be an awesome resource on the web "4bangers united" but last I checked they were no longer around.

First I gotta ask, where you were lucky enough to locate it? (I've been asking around for almost 2 years) is there more available? (preferably the stage 1 cam!!)

thanks!
