SYE and CV drive shaft where in calgary?

Where does everyone get their SYE kits from and rear CV drive shafts in town? Is The Gear Center Group a good place to go for that price and avaliability wise? or should I be ordering through Modern Motors or National 4wd? I do have lots of sources online, but i hate ordering parts from the states.

i'm slowly starting to get my jeep ready for the trails this summer so there are a few things that I still need.  so far i have the RE 3.5" SF lift with  31x10.5" Dick Cepek Mud Country on black steel rims on the way, should be here tomorow i hope.

I know National and I believe Modern both use Drive Systems Inc (DSI) for the driveshaft work.  You can order the sye kits either of them, but I would just go direct to DSI for a driveshaft.  Pats is good but VERY pricy.

Also I would recommend going with a Super Short SYE kit especially if you have a TJ.  They are 3" shorter and I makes a big difference.  With my JB SS on my YJ with 4" of lift, I was borderline on where I need a CV shaft or just a standard 2 joint shaft.  I think my driveshaft is just over 20" long

Have to agree with Fredduck Use North Shore Off Road out of Vancouver. They have reasonable pricing and the shipping is super fast. Ordered a set of shocks on Monday and I had them on Wednesday. Will is a good guy and very knowledgeable.

Thanks for your replies, i will check north shore out and DSI. I was definetly looking at the JB super short SYE. All the mods are for an XJ

I have the JB Super Short SYE in mine and it was easy to install and such. Only complaint I have is that the output yoke is not a standard yoke and I was hoping to switch up to a 1330 to have a little beefier driveshaft but ended up having to live with the 1310. I called JB's support and they confirmed a spicer model would not work and that they don't have 1330s for it.

imbezol who did you get yours through? straight from JB Conversions? I called northshore and they said they can get one in for me, they will give me a quote next week. I was hoping my RE 3.5" lift and tires would show up today so I could get it in over the weekend, but national4wd said that the order got delayed due to railroad delays, so Monday it should be here. I've also talked to the guys at The Gear Center about a CV driveshaft and they could have one done for me in a few days for around $500. sounds like a descent price, but not sure how strong they are. I guess the other option is Tom Woods drive shafts, anyone running those? I will also check in with DSI on Monday since its the long weekend.

The driveshafts are just as good from DSI or Pat's as Tom Woods.  Plus DSI will probably be cheaper

I got my JB SS from Hoyboyz Offroad new Lethbridge, but it took a bit to get.  You should be okay with a 3.5" lift for vibs until you get the sye installed.  With being 3.5" of lift you might not need a CV shaft, a standard slip shaft might be okay

in regards to the vibes, i hope they are minimal or none. if so it will save me a bit of money until i can aford the SYE and CV shaft down the road.

I bought my SS SYE straight from JB, It was for a NP 241-C. On the web site they offer a 1330 CV yoke for 50 bucks more. The yoke needs to be machined but it is a 1330. My only complaint is the shipping, they ship UPS ground so you have extra fees when it gets here. If you order for JB have them overnight it on a plane, you will actually save some green.

On the drive shaft topic I found a shop in Salt lake City, Tattons, They quoted me $250 for the front shaft, $235 the rear and $60.00 shipping through the USPS. Both are CV shafts with heavy wall tube, I'll post pic's when they get here. I ordered them Thursday and Curtis was going to ship them today.
When I talked to DSI they rough quoted me $750

When I talked to Curtis they were busy building shafts for vendors going to MOAB to sell out of the back of their trucks.

On the topics of shafts, I got a Tom Woods shaft for the front of my TJ with long life splines, dust boot, and for 3" of lift shipped to the border for $304.  I live in Lethbridge, so I just go down and get it to avoid any brokerage.  Even if you are in Calgary, consider driving down to the boarder to get it.  Alot of shops offer free shipping within the US, and if you pick it up all you pay is the GST.

I have the AA HD SYE....purchased from National4wd (was a fair enought deal from them $300).
Rear shaft was built by DSI...almost $200 cheaper than the quote from Pat's.

I got my JB SS SYE from Poly Performance in California and even though I got the item nice and quick I ended up being really disappointed with them because they screwed up two ways. 1) They didn't include a NAFTA Certificate of Origin so I got charged duty even though it's manufactured in the US. 2) They accidentally reported the value of the item as $1600 so I got dinged $350 or so in duty and GST. Normally I would have refused the item but it was cleared by my employer's brokerage firm so i didn't get that bill until 4 months after I'd recieved the SYE. Long story short, it turned out to be a $700 SYE. But.. I think that was a little bad luck too.

Yeah, that's the same spicer 1330 you can pick up around town way cheaper. I was considering getting one machined down at a later time.

The Tom Woods Driveshaft I ordered was way beyond anything I've seen from pat's...much coarser splines, longer splined section, available seal options, and extra nice u-joints....i wasvery pleasedwith all aspects of dealing with tom woods (he actually answered the phone when I ordered!!) Also, the nice thing about tom's is they know jeeps well enough to spec a driveshaft based on a description of the jeep as opposed to having to bring it in to them.

Also I am totally againt the tc drop, it is a real compromise, and if not done right can cause or contribute to exaust manifold cracks,as well as increasing front ds angle, and robbing the clearance your lift provides...also i think they look almost as gay as excessive body lift.  I will vouch for pat's being pricey...
