Really good deal!
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:09:58 AM »
Just thought I would pass this deal along to everyone. I run a 1500 watt paower inverter in my work van and it powers my chargers and my microwave....

This is not the same brand as mine, but it is also $250 less than what I paid.

I have ordered from costco.ca before and was very pleased with the quick service.

I have been thinking about getting an inverter for my Jeep, you know to run the PS3 and Wii and plasma tv while camping  ;D.  Honestly though how weather resistant are these units?  I have a 2 gallon compressor I want to use as onboard air.  I probably would not need same that big though to run that though.

I don't think they are very "weather reisitant", but I have run my Porter cable pancake compressor off my inverter with no problems.

Damn good deal

I paid about $350 for mine a couple years ago, they work awesome when camping,.. make note to run your car otherwise the battery will run dry,.. and if possible get a solar panel for trickle charge if you do kill your batt (takes a full day to charge a dead batt)

Awesome Deal!!

Don't they normally have low voltage shutdown features and low voltage alarms?

Mine does have an alarm, but I've left it powered on at night when I got home from work a few times and the batt was dead in the morning (usually winter only). If you can't hear the alarm from inside the house, it's not much good. :) Low voltage shutdown would be nice. It's a crappy feeling walking out to my van in the morning when I'm running behinde and hear a slight beeping coming from inside my van. :(

Just checked and it looks like the one from costco has:

Overload and over-temperature shutdown
Over?voltage protection (15 V DC)
Low voltage alarm (11 V DC)
Low voltage cut-out (10.5 V DC)
