Ladder bar placement
« on: April 08, 2008, 09:23:27 PM »
Does anybody see any reason why I can't install my ladder bars outboard of the frame on the rear of my YJ?
There isn't any room inboard with my shock mounts and the center case of the 9 inch.

You must be an ex muscle car guy fred :):)

We call them antiwrap bars, and on a jeep you only want one, and you want it as close to the center section as possible. Otherwise you will severly limit your wheel travel offroad, and most likely induce severe wheel hop during any uphill loss of traction scenarios.

hth

p.s. look around pirate4x4 for hours apon hours of antiwrap bar reading.

Try and make it work to the inside , Bill's right.

My 94 , hand crafted rendition , similar to what Skyjacker sells.

Thats cool.
Please explain the double joint on the end of the bar, it looks like you've got a heim joint a joint that rotates.

The shackle allows fore and aft movement , the heim allows for rear suspension  flex , such  as , one wheel stuffed the other wheel drooped.
