i have a 94 yj 2.5 , ax15 tranny and stock gears i heard running 31's or bigger will wreck the tranny, any truth to this?

well i have been running 31's on my jeep for about 6 months now and i don;t see any problems as i have the same motor

I think your tranny would be the ax5, not the ax15
I'm going to be doing the same,... i dont see any probs,.. other than 5th gear torque,.. probably going to be useless

yeah the only way i can run in 5th is when i am doing 120km/s or more if the wind is pusing me lol or going down hill lol

I've seen the 2.5L - 4 bangers YJ's running 33's and 35's. Depends on how you wheel it...

I have run a 4 banger with 31s and 33s and stock gearing. 31s are definitely very doable with no problems to anything. However, going to 33s was a big difference. No so much in the city but on the highway it sucked big time. I rarely got into 5th and spend most of my tire in 4th and sometimes 3rd. Offroad was still decent with the 33s and 4.10s.
With the 4 banger for any tires bigger than 31s, you probably should look at regearing.
