swamped jeep, need help

hey all..well I went climbing in the ghost valley on  sunday afternoon when I went in.. the river crossing was fairly deep and fast..........when I came out, it was way worse. the river carried my jeep down stream.   I turned off the motor (so it didn't hydrolock) the water was almost to the roof rack, way over the steering wheel.. I swam out through the window.     so I got pulled out almost right away (what a fight to get the strap on my tow hook...  I think I may have busted my hand)  . I have pulled the plugs (put oil down the cylinders) pulled the distributor (dried it)  I have tried lots of stuff... but no spark!    I can smell gas when I turn it over. and the motor sounds OK. (I also drained the water out of the motor)  I plan on changing all of my fluids.  why no spark??? I am at a loss right now... how do I check the coil ... I am getting power to it.

The ECM may need to dry out for a few days as would the power distribution box.

OK .. so I now get intermittent spark when i turn the ignition on and off...but not when cranking it over..any help?...this is my daily driver.

check all your sensors. crank sensor can act up. i dont know what kind of jeep you have. but check the conections as well. they could have crap in them.

cps, tps, spray out plugs with conntact cleaner etc...

Water can cause a multitude of electrical problems.  I would suggest you pick up a Haynes manual at Crappy Tire and read the part about testing the coil,  the description is very complete. I would also clean every sensor connector with contact cleaner  and put a dab of dielectric grease on it before putting it back together.

Water over the gas cap could mean a bit leaked into your fuel tank.
