Clutch does not disengage... slave cylinder?
« on: July 22, 2008, 12:43:16 AM »
Hey guys,

I just finished installing a 4" lift in my 1992 YJ, and took her out for her first drive today but I quickly noticed that the clutch is not fully disengaging making it impossible to shift into first. I could adjust engine speed and get it into all the other gears and limp her home. When I have the pedal fully depressed with nothing on the brakes the vehicle creeps forward much like an automatic trans does.  I also checked for leaks and although the fluid isnt that low, I did notice there is some fluid leaking from the bellhousing.  The odd part though is that the vehicle gets worse the farther I drive it but when I first start driving it, it almost seems ok.   Does this sound like the slave cylinder? The motor is a 4.OL H/O and I was required to install the 1" transfer case drop kit. You guys got any suggestions?

Regards,
Duncan

You probably have some air in the system.  Bleed it baby, bleed it.

well I yanked the tranny and the slave was leaking, and then I looked at the master and it was leaking, and then I figured what the hell lets replace the clutch too, so 500 dollars later, well see if this thing work properly!
