Who are you working with up in Zama, Rubio03jef?
And Sbcheroke:
There should be reasonable propspects this winter for a green guy. Without tickets, you will face a few hurdles. With tickets, I can't see you sitting if you get out there and pimp yourself
The tickets that you'll want are:
H2S alive (from Enform). One day long, classroom course, $150
Standard First Aid (from Red Cross or St. Johns ambulance). Two days long, classroom course, $150
Petroleum Safety Training (from Enform). Four to six hours long, computer based course, $100
An IRP16 ticket is also equivalent to this last one.
Get your tickets first, put the on your resume, and be prepared with a photocoied sheet showing all three of them so that you can fax it out to employers if they ask to see your tickets before an interview. Bring the originals to the interview.
I'd also reccomend refraining from smoking anything other than tobacco while you're trying to get hired. A lot of places are doing pre-employment drug screening these days. Also note that most drug screenings include a breathalyzer, so if you've been out on a bender, you'll fail.
You have no idea how many people fail this last part.
IF you want to get an idea about what working on a rig is like, go to the preicision drilling website. They have a couple of PDF's there (one each for drilling and service rigs) that explain some of the basics.
