4 Lug Spindle Socket - DANA 44
« on: July 27, 2011, 10:24:04 PM »
Where do I get one of these in Calgary?

I tried Crappy Tire but they don't have the right size. Instead of driving all over the place I thought I would ask.

I use a 36mm shallow and a strong arm. Put the strong arm on a 45* angle from the floor and then give it one good stomp, works every time!

You don't want to pound on the spindle directly as you can damage the threads or even make it egg shapped. Put the two "nuts" back on and jam them against each other and wack on them. If you have to wack REALLY hard try to use wood or something. You may need to clean the nuts up after with a file. I have an extra set I use just for that purpose.

Got it!! ;D

Put the two nuts back on and hooked a gear puller on them and the shaft for tension while I whacked it with my big mallet. I also liquid wrenched the hell out of it and let it sit for a while. I banged on the upper ball joint and that is when the spindle started to move. As it came apart I increased tension on the puller and worked it out evenly. What a struggle >:(

Thanks for the tips!
