Swappability between YJ and TJ

Not as far as I know, although the reverse is true (AX-15 bolts to the 2.5 engine) if you use a Dakota bellhousing from the 2.5 tranny for the AX-15. I was asking about this on Eco and was told to check on Pirate just the other day.
`48 CJ2A, `54 CJ3B, `97 TJ, and 03 WJ...batting close to .500 when it comes to jeep models owned vs. jeep models created.....

damn,.. that kinda sucks

options are seeming kinda slim now

edit:

ok,.. so I did some more searching and found in 84-86,.. the cherokee's used a gm v6 (the 2.8,.. which is still the same block as the newer grand am's 3400 engine [200hp] - just aluminum instead of cast iron) with the ax5 tranny.

Here's a q for you guru's,.. is the bellhousing the same between the 2.5 I4 and the 2.8 v6?

edit again:

ok i did some more searching

got this off another 4x4 forum

Quote
The 2.5L in front of your AX-5 uses a GM 60 degree V6 bellhousing pattern, not the GM 90 degree pattern that the GM "Iron Duke" 4cyl used in CJ's uses, as long as you used a bellhousing from a late CJ with the AMC 4cyl I "think" you'd be okay, or you can get a bellhousing from a 2.8 V6 S-10 with a T-5 and modify/drill the bellhousing to fit the T-18

So the end my engine search if I can't find a replacement 2.5 I4,.. i will drop in a 3.1 or 3100/3400 if I can find.
The cavalier engine harness should be an easy swap (91-94 ign plugs on the column [blue and black] i noticed are exactly the same,.. infact i think they might be the same column)

at least i can get the engine running with a cavalier ecu

[resume topic]

are the front grilles swappable between?

not that i don't like the square headlights,.. maybe there are better upgrades possible?

Another off topic q?

does the 4.0 bolt up to the 2.5 tranny?

If it does it probably wouldn't last long since you hear of people breaking them with the 4 banger.
