information needed to rebuild my tranny

I am going to be rebuilding my 5-speed Aisin tranny, not sure which one it is, but I am looking froward to this project.  I would realy beinfit by some exploded drawings or even a step by step manual for this project.  Looking forward to getting it done and back out onto the trails for next year.

If you're not even sure what tranny you have, it may be better to just pick up a used one and swap it in ($250-$500)
Easier, less time, less down time, may be cheaper.

Then you can be back on the trails next weekend, never mind next year

But anyways... here's some info, if it's the AX-15 tranny.

The Bill Huges manual (and others) fail to mention that there is a lock ball
in the Reverse Shift Head and Rail assembly. See figure 31 the lower arrow.
There is a lock ball in there so the two rails have to be in the right positions
before the Reverse Shift Head and Rail assembly will come out.
There are numerous lock beans and pins in the tranny.
Be very careful not to lose any or forget to install them.

Don't forget you'll need some gear pullers, shop press, bearing spliter? maybe more "special" tools the average joe doesn't have.

What motor do you have,.. this will tell you what tranny you have

Ut oh Gav is doing a tranny.  Are there any tags etc?  I don't know if they are around anymore, but Motors used to put out some fantastic manuals with exploded drawings, step-by-step etc.

I have some of the tools, but it's been a long time since I did a tranny and last time it was an old manual tranny from a 'cuda.

Been there done that and the repacement isn't in great shape either which is why I want to to do the rebuild.  I am running a inline 6cyl 4.0l engine.  I plan on doing it at U-wrench where I have access to the tools I will need.  Although I am a guy, many years of model building have taught me that assembly instructions area a good thing to have, even if you just use them for reference during the build.

thanks for the manual, now to make sure I don't end up with extra parts when I do this.   
A lot of printing to do though.  34 pages.
