As I'm one of the FWS guys heading out that day as well, I noticed that there's only one member of CJA responding for this run. I'm in no way suggesting that any of you do, but if there is anyone responding that enjoys a beverage or other wise on the trail please let me know now, even just with a PM. I don't care for surprises and don't care to embarass anybody on the run, so I'd much rather go a separate way right off the bat.
I know CJA's policy for no booze on the cruise, just like ours, but I haven't met most of the guys responding to this thread.
See you Saturday.
I'm with you on this one!
In the past, there have been times when I just stayed home instead of joining a run with people that I knew to be irresponsible.
As far as I'm concerned, everyone (and any 4X4) is welcome, provided that:
-You have recovery points (if you don't, pulling you out puts myself or others at more risk)
-you aren't drinking or indulging in other substances
-You wheel responsibly (on the trail, and within the limits of your rig and your experience)
-Bring warm clothing (preferably NOT cotton), lunch, and adequate water.
CB's are nice, but not a must-have in a small group on a moderate trail. Tow straps/yank straps/tree savers/snatch blocks/winches/shovels/axes/saws/first aid kits/tools are great to have...but if you're in a pinch, you can certainly borrow mine. Well, not the winch, since that won't be mounted by Saturday.
You'll have to drive back to Calgary if you want to use my winch.
