Just FYI: It's beginning to look like we may have to split into a couple of smaller groups so that the length of day is kept reasonable. I'm going to look at maps and we may have to organize our trip post-Cochrane. We are trying to keep this so that families with kids can get back at a reasonable time, so we are trying to keep this from becoming a mudfest.
Hey Tink thanks for sharing that thought. Us folks that are adventuring with kidlets in tow need to make sure the day is not a long one. Being back in Cochrane at 6 is a goal for us too. If some of the other folks wanna stay out longer...go for it but be safe. I'm thinking that it will be best to get out to the gravel pit, do our pre-trail checks, have a briefing & procede from there.
Looks like we have 11 units for the trip:
NUXJR - me
tinkerer - lead
michie
johnnyc
mhernden
aspirated
joker
jenn1981
black cheep
jeepers26
tubby89
We would ask that everyone have the minimum equipment - front & rear recovery points(winch optional), recovery strap, full size spare, cb(borrowed or otherwise), good dose of common sense, happy faces & open minds.
If there was at least one of us equipped with a shovel, hi-lift, come-along, buck saw etc, that'd be good. I have pick, axe, hatchet, folding saw, folding shovel & other basic survival gear.
No need to go hog wild...this was originally intended to be an easy, stocker, family oriented day, but Scouts motto is 'Be prepared'!!!
Plan is to meet at Smitty's at 9:00am & head out to the pit shortly there after.
Anyone else have thoughts?
