That is approximately $12K that you have listed and lets say another $12K on top for things you didn't list. $24K. Say another $5k for the base jeep (is that too low for a clean 89?) and you are at $29k and his asking price.

I am sure there would be another $20k invested in labor at least but I would guess this guy did a lot himself.

If you were looking to build this from scratch it might be worth it.

Almost $20 G's for a Jeep shod with 38" tires and a Dana 30 and AMC 20? Powered by a HiPo 302 = expensive mall crawler. Meh, each to his own I guess. I hope he has one piece rear shafts for that price.

Unfortunately, as you know, it doesn't matter what is into it, its what it is worth to someone buying it. My rubi was well over 50 and i took 27.
Sad.
Also, if you visit Pirate, some SICK rigs, better built, can be had for less (as you know).
If the owner of that jeep was on this site, i doubt any comments would have been made.

I fail to see the relevance of always comparing to the states. Everything is cheaper in the states, and few people are willing to go through the process of buying there.

If you walk into ford and tell them you can get that 60 thousand dollar king ranch for 37k in texas, what do you think they would say?

Thats 23400 in parts and 16500 in labor. Thats backyard labor. That doesnt include the purchase price of the rig, the motor work, or all the odds and ends that go into a project like this.  Bearings, balljoints, wiring, fluids, pulleys, starter, alternator, belts, usjoints, driveshafts, etc etc etc. That stuff quickly adds up to another 5k.

A  pro shop would be around 30k in labor just for the stuff I listed.


For someone that doesnt know how to built their own stuff, to come in, and get this rig off the guy for 25k is not a bad deal at all.

i think the relevance is that you are bagging on people that also can access the internet and see many jeeps for sale, better built and for less. You are right that most will not go through the hassle of going to the states but it still remains valid comparisons.
At the end of the day, the jeep will sell for 2 reasons;
the seller got the bottom dollar he would take and the buyer paid the top dollar he would pay.

No matter what is into the jeep  in labor, it is worth nothing in a selling market. The parts are worth money. The jeep is worth money. Labor is worth nothing.

You seem overly offended by what is a common theme on the internet...people randomly commenting on a strangers jeep for sale.

Maybe he is your best buddy?

When my jeep was for sale, it was heartbreaking to accept the REALITY that it is not worth anywhere close to what i had invested into it. It sucked for me.

Anyways, no harm...no foul.

I defended your jeep in the very same manor I am defending this one.

People with little knowledge about building rigs fire pot shots at rigs like this and yours,  claiming they arent worth nearly what the people are asking.

But you know that when they have some shtty swampers to sell they will ask top dollar.

I just think its ignorant to crap on someones hard work and money spent with these types of comments.

My point being about irrelevance is that everything is cheaper in the states, and everyone knows that. It really has nothing to do with what the seller would be asking here, and what folks will likely pay him.

That would be like saying you should have sold your rig for 14k because you can get one in the states for that.

I never knew the 20 and 30 were so bad. I guess I'll have to stick with 33's and hope to get another 26 years out of mine before I have to replace them.  :)
