You are aware that is soon as you attach real frame rails to that thing, it stops being an XJ and becomes a modified YJ with a malfunctioning hard top, right?

lol i got nothing, no comback for that burn. damn

well if you are building a fame it would be very easy to stuff a different engine in there. please tell us you are going with something other then the 4.0L
Why does your Jeep say Toyota on it?

That real frame is cool, how do you plan on fastening the body to it? Are you going to weld it to the frame or are you going to fab some body mounts and attach it like a traditional body on frame?

well I will have plenty of room for an LS1 or and LQ9, but for now the 4.0L has to go in until I can find one of the engines mentioned for reasnoable price with a full harness and ECU. the LS1 is 25lbs lighter than the 4.0 and the LQ9 is 10lbs heavier than the 4.0. i think they are the best candidates.

as for the body Im thinking hard mounted/welded body mounts.

Make a jig an sell those suckers Raf!!! Not that us XJ guys need real frames of course.... ;) Coming along really nicely since I last saw it :)
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

update, I had some time to finish welding the main part of the frame, minus some gussets and brackets.

i have the frame under the xj now, its all aligned i'm just waiting for my body mounts to arrive so i can attach it to the body.

also mocked up the rear axle with the tires on it to see the fitment.

next update I hope to have both axles in and ready to start my 4-link suspention.

Forget the XJ put the mini-van on that frame and axle setup!

Looks good buddy!
Buy some safety glasses.
You can jackoff with a fake hand but you cant see out of a glass eye.

got the body sitting on the frame now waiting on body mounts to show up.

Made up motor mounts and installed the motor. still need to fab up a cross-member for the transmission.

the jeep is all leveled out on stands and finally I got the D60 under the xj, set in place ready to start the triangulated 4-link build. The front axle is pushed forward 4" and rear will be pushed back 5" for a 110" wheel base. I'm trying to build it so that later I can go up to 40" rubber.

40" on an XJ?

A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

This is a really cool build to be watching.  REALLY makes me wish I could weld........
