Portable Air Compressor
« on: August 31, 2010, 05:20:27 PM »
If anyone is in the need for a portable air compressor for airing up, I was just at Costco today (the sarcee one) and they have the Bonaire DD25 there for $39.99. Here is a link to their website

 http://www.bon-aireindustries.com/products/detail.cfm?prodID=47

I thought it would be a pile'o'junk for $39.99, but it's actually pretty decent. It feels solid, comes with all of the hoses/hook-ups you need, comes with a bag,  and it's a 12V that hooks up directly to the battery. I just tried it out and aired up my 33" duratracs from 12 psi to 40 psi and it took just under 4 min. I tried the same thing with an ARB compressor a little while ago and it took 3:30.

Sure, there are faster/better ones out there, but for 40 bucks including all of the fixin's, it's a good deal.

$39.99 is just what the doctor ordered for airing up after a run. Good find.

I'm surprised that you took that long to air up after a run with an ARB. My ARB compressor takes my 35's from 11 psi to 25 psi in about 90 seconds. ???

that's a good speed for sure.  For mine, it seems to go from about 15 psi to 30 psi in 2:30, then the last 1:30 is going from 30-40. Not bad for 40 bucks!

Dude, you already have a compressor, and a line on a second one for a very reasonable price. Your Ghetto-fab OBA system is gonna be ghtto-fabulos!

I see it comes with a presta valve, but what is the max psi its capable of? My road bike for example needs 90psi in the tires.

It says it goes up to 150 and has an in line air gauge that gives real time readings. Although I haven't tried it that high, I used it on some mountain bikes this weekend and it worked great. Very quick fill.

I have Canadian Tire's "heavy duty" air pump for RV's. Its gauge goes to 150psi but I've never been able to get it past 40psi so I wouldn't let how far the gauge goes up impress you too much....

yeah, probably a good point. I've had it up to 65, but haven't had any need to go past that.

was there any literature that came with the pump? stating what they rate the pump at for a max pressure? I saw on that site, they had max pressures listed for the Goodyear i7000 or something but not for that one.

I'm running 275/70/18 duratracs on a JK and normally run 32 psi. I was just curious about the 40 for a while after reading some stuff on a JK forum for those E rated tires, but quickly decided that 32 is the magic number for me.
