OK folks. I think that we've hit critical mass for this run. Any more rigs, and we will self-destruct. I'm going to limit the run to the folks that have already posted up, please. The only way that we will be adding more people to the run is if folks that were previously coming have decided not to.
We're going to break into three groups, as follows:
Group #1 - airing down at the gravel pit, going to the falls to cook some hot dogs on the fire:
w squared (trail leader)
Rubi03jef (tailgunner)
Pookapotamus (midgunner)
Rubibago
Silverfox
Knox
Koda2010
Bone206
Group #2 - airing down at the South Ghost unloading area, going on a tour of the "Winter Loop"
Specialk (Trail Leader)
JohnnyC (Tailgunner)
Immortal
Elsifer
Rich
Tubby
AVNine
Avalanche
Group #3 - Airing down east of Camp Chamisol, going to Margaret Lake, and then maybe on to winter loop trails.
MoreRPMFred and Joel will play Rock/Paper/Scissors to determine who leads this group and who tailguns.
Brooneg
Bushman67
MHernden
Aladin
Fug
Alltornup
Brooneg's dad (yota)
Brooneg's buddy (yota)
If turn-out is light, we will reduce things to two groups, with SpecialK and myself as the trail leaders.
The other thing that I will say is that myself and the other trail leaders will be holding people to the requirements. This includes recovery points that are not "sketchy", and tires that will work well on winter trails. Please ensure that your rig is mechanically sound, has a full tank of fuel BEFORE you arrive at the Smitty's parking lot, and that you have plenty of food, water, and warm clothing for everyone on board.
For those of you with new rigs...yes, body damage is possible. We will not be doing anything wild, but for those folks with rigs that have never been offroad, please understand what you're getting into. I drive my Jeep every day, and I don't "beat" on it...but after two and a half years years of wheeling it, there IS body damage on it. Shocked You may find that your air dam, rocker panels, and/or rear bumper are showing "battle scars" after this run, especially if you're new to offroad driving and haven't yet figured out how to choose your line to avoid body damage.
Requirements will be:
-Good AT or MT tires with lots of tread.
-Proper tow points front and rear - please don't expect to borrow parts of other people's vehicles to make your tow points work.
-Full sized spare
-Ample food and water for yourself and all passengers
-Vehicle in sound mechanical condition
-Appropriate winter clothing (including boots, gloves, hat) for everyone in the vehicle, and some extra warm clothing
-Spare footwear and socks - because frostbitten toes are no fun
-Top off your fuel tank in Cochrane just before we meet
-All non-members will be asked to sign waivers
Items that would be helpful if you have 'em:
-Shovel
-Chains
-Recovery strap (nothing with metal ends, please)
-CB
We'll meet at the Smitty's in Cochrane at 8:45, and roll out at 9. Everyone please make sure that you top off your tank in Cochrane before we meet at Smitty's. While I'm sure that at least some of the gas stations will be open, I wouldn't plan on picking up much other than jerky and chips in the morning
