great day for sure. I went last year in my stock 07 Sahara and had a blast. I'm disappointed I'm working that weekend this year. Boo.

It's great to see so many on board for the 101.  It really is a great event and a great way to know your Jeep!

If we sent Eric a PM with our info/interest should we still submit off the registration site?

Would a mainly stock XJ with a 2" lift be suitable for this run?

I'd love to come out, but I'm not sure if my Cherokee Classic has front recovery points...........(yes I realize how "noob" this sounds).  Anyone know if I can run the "101" as is?

Recovery points are a MUST and I am sorry but this is not negotiable.  if you get stuck and we need to pull or winch you out, we need secure points for recovery equipment as the forces involved are quite large.  Otherwise your vehicle would be great for this run.  This run is designed for stock Jeeps.

So any thoughts on how a guy could quickly rig up some front recovery points on an XJ?  From what I've read, the unibody doesn't make it easy....  :(

Talk to Drew at Modern Motors, he probably has a set hanging around. Or hit up pick and pull. Or the for sale section on here.

Do you have a rear point?

clay may have a set kicking around still.

or modern or national should sell the kits as well.  they are kind of costly, but when you are stuck you will quickly realize how valuable decent tow points are.

I have a rear trailer hitch (oem class III).  Not sure if that counts as a real recovery point............

Thanks for the suggestions for front mounts, I guess I'll look around.

Yes a hitch can be used as a rear recovery point.  However, for the 101 in the most likely scenario only the fronts would be used and only fronts are mandatory

If you end up finding a set and would like a hand to install them, feel free to PM me. I will help you put them onto your XJ so you can make it out. No charge for my time and labor. Just need the hooks and mounting hardware :)
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...
