I just bought a set of 33s quite happy with the size but will eventually go to 35s. Should I go with 4.56s or go straight to 488s??  Would 488s make my engine scream doing 110 on the highway with 33s.??  Oh yeah 4l yj

There are a few guys running 4.88 with 35s and they are super happy with that setup. 4.56 is a bit tall and 5.13 is overkill. You can't go wrong @ 4.88 and 35s and your fuel mileage will jump up too. Bonus and bonus :)

I think that 4.88's with 33's will be a little short for highway running, but not the end of the world.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

4.88 on 35 here and it's fairly close to stock, have to shift down on hills.  4.88 on 33 would be nice on the highway, rev a little more but that makes little difference in fuel economy as it's the drag of the jeep and the hardness of the tires that does the most damage.

I,m running 4.11 diffs with 33. No illusions here have polished dana 30 35 combo and have no intention of ever going to bigger tires for fear of breakage. Moter has free flow exhaust no cat and fresh air intake mods. Has long legs on the highway and gets up to 22 mpg. 456 would have killed mileage for me.  If you have a dana 44 in the back I would go 456 for sure to go with the 35s. If you go with a wide or heavy 35 then 4.88 s.

4.88 and 35's rev noticeably higher than stock on the highway but gives you about the same power as stock. I run around 3 grand at 110kph, making something like 120 kph annoying to hold but i do it anyway.... I ran 4.88's with 33's and as long as you don't have to hold 110 kph for long durations it is ok. The drive out to Mclean is a little annoying with 4.88's and 33's but it is very doable.

Basically as long as your not going to be driving out of town it is livable, but could wear on your nerves if your commute demands 110kph everyday. However around town it is a blast driving with 4.88's and undersized tires, its like a go cart.

I should also mention that while 4.88 may rev a little high even with 35's for highway use, any less power and it would be kind of crappy. So IMO if 35's are the final tire size, 4.88's are your best bet.

But if 33s are your end goal are 456 more ideal? with regular 110kph commutes

Eventually 35s. I have a ford 8.8 Dana 30. But then there's steering to address and a little more lift as 3" Won't clear 35s.

i ran 5.13's on 35's and they were a bit over kill but i was planning on going 38's at the time of install

put a 2" body lift on it, run some TJ flares and cut out the rear fenders (this will be covered by TJ flares)  more than enough room for 35s.

Oh, an 8.8

If you arent spooling it, then consider 4.56

It will require you to carve less of the teeth out in order to get the cross pin into the carrier.

Hey guys question to add to this.. I know my truck isn't a jeep but you all are still a fount of information  :P I want to re-gear my truck as it only has 3:55's right now.. If I wanted to comfortably run 35's would 4:10's be alright or do I have to go right up to 4:56's? I have a 5.2L v8 in it.. Thanks! ;D

4.10's would be plenty with a v8
