hey guys, so today i started work again and my boss asked me to take a long arse drive accross calgary to get him his fan for the pipes, on the highway as  i hit 100 to 110 the keep starts to shake, but to me i just thought its just the ballance for my tires, as they are the MTZ and i read and heard that they are a hell lot hard to ballance... and i didnt think any thing of it since iv always had it do that at those kinda speeds.

So on my way to this other job site to get the fan i had to stop a few times to make a phone call to see where the address of the guy that i need to get the fan from, when i started to pick up speed at around 60km to 80 km my steering wheel started to shake about  1 inch side to side i put my head our side the window and i can see the tire wobboly kinda.

now i came home and i lifted the jeep up and im shaking the wheel from 9 and 3 and theres about 5 or 8 mm of play on both tires... would it be my bushings or is it my steering links?

Is it a vertical movement or horizontal , if vertical its prob your ball joints and if its horizontal it could b a tie rod end

Dry steering test, dont lift the Jeep off the ground. If it is death wobble, the best place to start is the trackbar. Death wobble is a VIOLENT shake and the only thing you can think of is slow down right then.

Could also be bearings... I had a similar thing a few weeks back.  Bearings were pooched.  Lift the tire off the ground and wiggle back and forth.  If it moves, it's your bearings.

hey guys a small update, so i turned the jeep on and held the steering wheel really tight and my buddy movied the tire at 9 and 3 and the pitarm for the steering box has alot of play and the steering wasnt moving at all.. would that be it? i just bought a new steering box

i have changed the bearings like 4 mons they are still good hey dont move at all either way, but like i just said the steering arm on the steering box has too much play

You sure the pitman arm hasnt loosened off. Pretty common when the box is changed for that nut to loosen? There really isnt any other way a pitman would have slack.

Only other thing would be play in the sector shaft of the box, which a pitman wont help. The boxm ay be out of adjustment if you just bought it. Stop at a local shop and have gear slop in the box adjusted. Do not attempt it if you've never done it yourself. Its easy to ruin a box that way.

hey there Bnine, sorry i missaid that, the old box had alot of slack that made the pitarm move even then the steering waas held.

Update: so i installed the new steering box, and change the whole steering links, its a bit stiffer then the one that was on it, and NO MORE  LEAKS lol, the play has gone away, the wobble has gone away but im having this really annoying knock like sound :( every time i turn i hear it and i jumped on the front bumper and the clunking comes.

every thing has been retightend and checked 2 times, every thing regreased ill post a vido of the clunking sound while i was jumping on the jeep
