Looking for a boilt key!
« on: October 26, 2012, 04:39:35 PM »
Stupid me left the boilt key on the boilt after switching over to my fun tires for the snow! But now can't get it off, looking for someone that would hopefully have the same style as mine! I need a key with 3 flat sides and one with a point on it. If you this you many have it I can send a pitcher to compare( as I do not know how to post one).

Box of beer comes with the great help!

You can buy removers for these at a parts store or use a hammer and chisel (not fun).

Or pound a slightly smaller socket on with a hermaphrodite, cheaper then buying the key set and less annoying as the chisel method.

The "remover" is a special socket that you twist on, pounding a smaller socket on is difficult, hence the hammer and chisel.

Removers cost a 100 bucks a set. Hammer and chisel takes for fuggin ever. Socks are cheap and if you have a man sized hammer and man sized arms, will take ya 5 minutes. Done.

The removers are $29/set and my snap-on sockets are about $40/each...so no pounding for me.   The remover takes takes about 15 sec...no hammering required.

That's great, Im happy for you that you've found a method that works for you. I'm guessing the OP has not found a method yet, so I offer my advice as one that works for me and others I see, is that okay?
