Thanksgiving run 19-Oct
« on: October 08, 2013, 08:55:18 AM »
This will be an open run.  Requirements will be:
- tow points front and rear
- 31" tires and up (in good shape... prefer something a bit more aggressive than street tires)
- CB Radio (or in a pinch FRS)

Leaning towards McLean but am open to Waiparous if people want to go there and maybe eat lunch at the lake.  We had a great trail meal on last years thanksgiving run but since our resident trail chef is preoccupied these days... I am thinking the club will provide some more mundane eats (burgers/dogs?) and maybe we'll try a hobo stew (everyone brings a can of something or other with the label peeled off ... and it all goes into the pot).

Who's in?  and what are your thoughts on the food suggestions?

I would like to come, I can bring a mini bbq, some hotdogs, and some chips. And some drinks if needed.

At the lake ?  Hmm hobo stew. Will bring big pot and cook table. Every one bring a can of vegtables or soup or pasta or whatever. No sobitage. Rip the label off at home and bring it. Did this with lck the past summer. Awesome.

I'd go.  I meet the requirements, except I drive a tracker instead of a jeep, is that a sin?  I can bring anything lacking.  I have lots of chairs, camp table, mini bbq, etc.

I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

So... going to Waiparous for 19-Oct.  Meet at Smitty's at 8am.  Head out to the trail at 9am or so.  Bring along a can of something with the label peeled off to throw into a "hobo stew".  CJA will provide some burgers/dogs and sodas.

Since this is an open run you can driver your Tracker or Land Cruiser or what have you... just be prepared to take some good natured abuse.

In order to get a rough idea of how much to bring lets see if we can get a list of who's in and how many people are riding with you.

So far:

Fug - 2
OnyxGrizzly - ?
Morerpmfred - 3
plaerzen - 2
Wsquared - 2
Fleetline - ?
Hps4evr - 3
Buki - 3
Vinman - 1

Andy you're going to bring a big pot/camp stove for the hobo stew?

I'll handle grabbing burgers/dogs/pop and the condiments.

Might need a couple bbq's so if you want to bring one out post up.

Also if another member wants to lead this parade ... I can run tailgunner... or we can let me lead and go in endless circles ;)

I'm a big maybe on this one.  I am putting down new floors on the weekend...if it goes well Friday, I should be out.

Myself plus one.

I'll lead, tailgun, whatever. I will warn you that if you let me navigate, we are likely to head towards the nearest source of mesquite smoke - I've been spending a lot of time in Texas.

Three of us in da jeep. Gotta heard some cats in the morning so will probably leave a little late driving through Cochrane 10.30 ish and will meat you at Margerite lake. Or do we want to have lunch at a scenic viewpoint location # 149 ?

3 in my jeep. The spot Andy is interested in is a very nice lookout with plenty of room. Dress warm folks!
