01 XJ idling rough, dying
« on: May 05, 2015, 07:44:42 PM »
The eep (4.0 l) is idling rough, even dying at idle. Smooths out with a little throttle. No vacuum leaks. Could it be a bad coil, bad injector?
Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't test those until you've first verified its not the CPS.

My 01 had this issue as well. Turned out my idle air control motor had to be replaced. You can easily take that out and clean it, and also wouldnt hurt to check the other sensors in the intake to ensure they are clean and working properly.
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Pulled IAC and cleaned it. Ran little better. Replaced it, what a difference. Think it had been faulty for a while.
Thanks TL.

Probably will.   But your missing on a cylinder every once and a while.  Feel the exhaust.  Dunno, maybe its better now, but noticed it first thing when you started er up driving away.
